Research and development of the disposal package for the deep geological disposal of spent nuclear fuel into the stage of the sample implementation

The work focused on research and development resulting in the design of type D storage casks, intended for the storage of spent or irradiated nuclear fuel from the existing Dukovany and Temelín nuclear power plants and from new nuclear units whose selection is expected, including the production of 1 sample storage cask for SNF type VVER 440. The storage cask will be designed for the design life of at least 10,000 years under the conditions of a deep repository in the Czech Republic (i.e. Increased temperature, radiation, contact with other engineering barriers - bentonites, mechanical load, contact with groundwater, a transition from aerobic to anaerobic conditions, etc.). Implemented between 2014 and 2020.
