The aim of the project is to develop new technology for the circuit decontamination of the primary part of the VVER type nuclear power plant.
The principle of the technology is continuous recyclability of the decontamination medium (solution), while adhering to the requirements for technological efficacy and process efficacy on special steel surfaces (achieving the decontamination factor, exposure time, additional energy need) and subsequent processability of the secondary radioactive waste by conventional techniques. The technology minimizes the consumption of chemicals and the production of secondary radioactive waste. The outcome of the project is a patent (the application and recycling technology itself) and verified technology (verification of the complete technology cycle through application to waste management and processing). The technology will be utilized as pre-deconstruction decontamination during decommissioning of VVER-type power plants. Safe and efficient solutions for the so-called back-end nuclear energy use are one of the crucial requirements for the sustainability of nuclear energetics. The project is being implemented in the years 2016 - 2020.
