In the week of September 5, we hosted an international technical seminar (Technical Meeting on Costing Approaches for Nuclear Infrastructure Development) in Řež, which was aimed at exchanging experience and information needed for planning and pricing activities before the start of nuclear reactor construction. The meeting was held under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, and the ENERGOPROJEKT PRAHA Division, led by its Director Petr Mach, took over the sponsorship of the technical program on behalf of the Řež Nuclear Power Plant.
Participants were recruited from countries currently considering the construction of new nuclear power plants and related infrastructure, as well as from countries with mature nuclear programmes.
During the presentations, they exchanged experiences and shared the challenges they face in developing nuclear energy in their countries.
The seminar programme was enriched by teamwork in groups, in which participants analysed the appropriateness of the choice of types of contracting and supply organisation models for NPP construction in relation to the maturity of the nuclear programme of the country.
The diverse audience from nine countries across continents included specialists from energy-related organizations, staff from financial and industrial institutions, government agencies and research institutes. The knowledge gained at the seminar should enable them to better assess and evaluate pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies as well as cost-benefit analyses of nuclear construction.
In addition to the scientific programme, we also organised a number of excursions to our site and a visit to Temelin.
