Low- and medium-active wastes are deposited in so-called landfills. We provide development and technical support for their operation and modernization. Our activities are:
- Assessment of migration in the rock environment and materials of the near-field
- Evaluation of RAW quality and stability of the system RAW - solidifying matrix - storage package such as leaching, compressive strength, residual water content, long-term hydrolytic stability, flammability and thermal stability and other properties
- Assessment of the stability / degradation of engineering barriers in time and in interaction with the environment (including in situ experiments)
- Safety scenarios, analyses and assessments, draft the Waste Acceptance Criteria
- Design and optimization of the disposal design solution (including waste handling and control)
- Monitoring storage (releases and environment, pre-disposal monitoring)
- Management and coordination of research projects involving more than one partner, participation in international projects
