The research and development services for the Deep Geological Repository project include:
- Assessing migratory properties of the rock environment and materials of the so-called near-field
- Design and development of engineering barriers of the repository (corrosion, diffusion, chemical interactions, anaerobic environment)
- Assessing the stability/degradation of engineering barriers in time and in interaction with the environment (under acid-free subsoil conditions, including in-situ experiments)
- Evaluation of RAW properties and stability after treatment (in the form intended for storage, RAW - fixation matrix) such as leaching, strength, flammability and thermal stability, residual water content, long-term hydrolytic stability, and other properties
- Environment modeling, study and modeling of physicochemical processes
- Security scenarios, analyses, and evaluations
- Design of ways and methods of communicating with the public on the acceptability of repositories
- Design and optimization of project solutions for surface and deep repositories
- Management and coordination of research projects involving more than one workplace, participation in international projects
